A Prayer For Different Seasons Of Life

Here is an excerpt from Raghbir Singh ji’s book on Chardi kala – on the prayers for the different seasons of life

If you are comfortable in life—if you are happy from a worldly perspective, surrounded by family, friends, wealth, status, and every material comfort—do not forget the Giver of these blessings. Remember the Giver every time you enjoy His gifts. In doing so, your joy will deepen, and your worldly happiness will continue to grow.

If you are having monetary problems —if making ends meet is difficult, if every effort results in loss instead of gain. If you have no job or capital to start a business, and no one is willing to help—then in such a moment, take refuge in the Creator with a pure heart and unshakable faith. Remember the Timeless One and believe that He walks beside you. The Creator of Causes can turn your poverty into prosperity, your losses into gain. He can create new paths where none seem to exist.

If you are a king or a top official, with wealth, power, armies, a beautiful home, and a life full of luxuries—if your commands are obeyed without question, and no worry dares come near you—even then, bow humbly before your Creator. Acknowledge the One who gave you this stature. Without your comforts, titles, and fame, you may find yourself lost, for all rulers and empires must one day bow to time. Those who came before you are no more, and one day, you too will leave everything behind. At that moment, only your Creator will remain by your side. Why not become His servant now—willingly and gratefully? In doing so, you will rule with grace, and when the time comes to depart, He will be your protector and support.

If a great trouble has come upon you, and you can see no way out—if your opponents are stronger, your burdens heavier, and your courage failing—remember even now that not a single strand of your hair can be touched without His will. Take refuge in God with a pure heart and unwavering trust. Your troubles will disappear like a mountain of smoke.

If you are wise and intelligent, if you possess great knowledge, if you are a renunciate with miraculous powers—a scholar of scriptures, a saint, or a revered teacher—then know this too is His grace. Be grateful for the divine gift that sets you apart. All wisdom and power are blessings from the One.

If you are often unwell—if no doctor or treatment can cure your illness, and you are drowning in despair—still, do not lose hope. Meditate on the healing power of the Divine Name with love, devotion, and resolve. Offer your heartfelt prayers. The One who is all-powerful can lift your suffering and bring peace.

And if you desire to live as a servant of your Creator, to walk every step in remembrance of Him—If you wish to uncover the mystery of life and death and become immortal.
If you long to break free from the endless cycles of birth and rebirth. If you want to be fearless and free like your Creator— Then turn inward. Look within yourself, and ask:
Who am I?
